Blancpain advertise as the world’s oldest watchmaking company, dating back to 1735.
And this model 2185F Léman Flyback series 2000's is a neo-vintage icon whose
popularity while never lacking by knowledgeable collectors is now increasing across the
board as it is being re-discovered in the world of haute horology.
It houses a high-grade F1185 column wheel, vertical clutch movement which was
initially introduced in 1989 and at 5.55 mm was once the thinnest automatic
chronograph caliber produced. The case dimensions along with the movement specs
are currently trending as a move back to more wearable and eloquent pieces are
increasingly in fashion. A diameter of 38mm, a short lug to lug length of 42mm and a
thin overall height of just 11mm are specs comparable to todays latest releases. And
the 20mm lug spacing makes this piece a certifiable strap monster.
Legibility is unparalleled with copious amounts of lume on the striking black stepped
dial. The large military style Arabic numerals and the white gold hands are completely
coated and filled with luminous material making for exceptional nighttime readability.
Even the 5 minuet plots, chronograph hand and all three sub dial hands are luminous
coated.
This watch is in very good condition, showing only minor marks in the AR coating.
Hands dial and case are all excellent showing no appreciable signs of wear. Time
keeping is excellent, all functions work correctly and the watch will be delivered in a
factory Blancpain zippered service case.
